Welcome Volunteer (Marple)

REF: 6932b11f968f8

We’re looking for friendly and dependable volunteers to help run regular drop-in sessions around Stockport.

As a Welcome Volunteer, you'll help set up the space by arranging chairs, tables, and drink stations (like filling the water urn and putting out cups). Once the session starts, you'll help staff by greeting carers as they arrive, making them feel welcome, offering drinks, and introducing them to others if needed.
Carers come to these drop-ins to meet people and sometimes to get advice. They may talk privately with staff about personal matters. Some may be going through tough times and might need emotional support, so volunteers should be comfortable having sensitive and confidential conversations if they come up.

By volunteering, you’ll be helping staff focus on giving carers the one-on-one support they need. Your help can make a big difference and create a warm, supportive space for carers. It’s also a great role if you enjoy chatting and connecting with people in your community.

Signpost for Carers

Organisation description:

Signpost Stockport for Carers is an independent local charity who have been supporting carers for more than 30 years. If you’re a Stockport carer or caring for somebody living in Stockport, we’re here for you. A carer is anyone providing help to a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage without them because of frailty, illness, addiction or disability. Carers often don’t recognise themselves as ‘carers’; they just think of themselves as helping out somebody they care about. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for carers in Stockport from 6 years old to 96 years old and everyone in-between!
