Therapist / Trainee Therapist – BPD Group Facilitator

REF: Disability Stockport

Volunteering with Disability Stockport is a great way to give back, meet new people and be part of a supportive, inclusive community. Our volunteers play a big role in helping us create welcoming spaces where people can feel confident, creative and connected. Whether you’re supporting groups, lending a hand at activities, or sharing your own skills and interests, volunteering with us is flexible, rewarding and genuinely makes a difference. Full training is provided, and you’ll be supported every step of the way by a friendly team who really value the time and energy our volunteers give.

Role

We’re looking for a committed qualified or trainee therapist to join us in supporting a group focused on Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). The group will run in 10-week blocks, exploring different topics related to BPD, and once the first cohort is completed, the group will continue with ongoing cohorts, so this role does require a genuine level of commitment. While the group will be led by an experienced facilitator, we’re looking for an additional therapist or trainee therapist to help support the space and the people in it. No previous specialist training in BPD is required, as BPD-specific training will be provided alongside general training. What’s really important is the ability to read the room, adapt responses in the moment, and help maintain a calm, supportive and non-judgemental environment. Empathy, confidence and understanding are key for this role. The therapist or trainee therapist will gain a wealth of hands-on experience, deeper understanding, and opportunities for reflection and learning that will be hugely valuable for ongoing CPD. The position is subject to references and a DBS check, which will be arranged by Disability Stockport.
