Signpost Link Volunteer (Marple)

REF: 6932b1fa572ae

We’re on the lookout for friendly, reliable volunteers to help spread the word about Signpost at local drop-in sessions across Stockport.

As a Signpost Link Volunteer, you’ll chat with people attending dementia support groups about what we do and encourage them to register with us. Some may already know about Signpost and just need a little reminder about how we can help. You don’t need to be an expert on dementia - just a good understanding of our services and a friendly attitude is all you need.

Carers come along to these drop-ins to connect with others in a similar situation, get advice, and sometimes talk privately about what they’re going through. Some may be finding things tough, so it’s important to be comfortable having sensitive and confidential chats if needed.

By volunteering, you’ll be helping staff focus on giving carers the one-on-one support they need, whilst also helping an established group to continue supporting carers. Your help can identify carers that we do not yet support, or encourage existing members of Signpost to reconnect. It’s also a great role if you enjoy chatting and connecting with people in your community.

Signpost for Carers

Organisation description:

Signpost Stockport for Carers is an independent local charity who have been supporting carers for more than 30 years. If you’re a Stockport carer or caring for somebody living in Stockport, we’re here for you. A carer is anyone providing help to a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage without them because of frailty, illness, addiction or disability. Carers often don’t recognise themselves as ‘carers’; they just think of themselves as helping out somebody they care about. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for carers in Stockport from 6 years old to 96 years old and everyone in-between!
