Samaritans of Stockport and District branch are looking for a Support Volunteer to support Branch Publicity. Each branch is like running a mini business with every role in the branch carried out by a team of committed volunteers. Because of this there are many ways to volunteer with Samaritans. As a Support Volunteer you would be part of a supportive team with a discrete role to support our existing Branch Publicity Officer to raise awareness of the work we do - there would be no expectation of duties beyond this remit. The anticipated time commitment is 2/3 hours per week. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work with our Branch Publicity Officer to help us raise vital awareness and develop this role within branch. Samaritans of Stockport and District serve as a listening ear for our local community, with ordinary people supporting those struggling to cope, round the clock, every single day of the year. From our base in Heaton Moor, we offer emotional support by telephone. We proudly support the whole of Stockport, as well as neighbouring areas through our Outreach work and also provide Samaritan awareness and Suicide Prevention training and support the Network Rail partnership. We are completely self funding and raise funds, approx. £25,000 per year to keep our branch operating and letting us carry out our vital work.
