We involve Volunteer Gardeners in a variety of our services, including in our special education schools and residential homes. We are fortunate to have outdoor spaces that are well maintained with lawns mowed and hedges trimmed, but we welcome green-fingered volunteers who can help us bring a bit more life and interest to them! We believe in the benefits of colourful and inviting outdoor areas for the mental health of the children, young people, and staff who use those spaces, and in the sensory stimulation and understanding gained from growing herbs and edible produce. You'll be part of a friendly team and will really use your skills to make a difference to young people's lives. If you love being outside and bringing nature to life, this could be the role for you!
Role
As a gardener with us you'll take the lead on planning the garden as well as doing the practical work! This includes planting and maintaining year-round flowerbeds / pots / plant boxes, keeping planted areas free of weeds, growing edible produce for our young people to enjoy (herbs, fruit, veg), coming up with other ideas for how we can make the most of the space.Where:
