Organisation description:
We are a Community Interest Company set up to devise and run the inaugural Marple Mysteries Festival to be held over the weekend of Friday, 14 May 2027 to Sunday, 16 May 2027. The Festival is to celebrate the opening of the planned new community hub and library, and relies on the connection between the town of Marple and Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, who was named when Agatha Christie passed through Marple Station. The plan is to hold a writing competition for local schoolchildren, with short-listed and prize winners being presented to and having their work read by a celebrity author; conversations with, readings and book signings by major British crime writers; performances of an Agatha Christie play at the Carver Theatre; showings of Agatha Christie films at the Regent Cinema. We have yet to create a website or Facebook page, but as this form will not let me proceed without inserting a website, I have used my own author's site for the present.
