REF: Disability Stockport

Reel Connections, a friendly Disability Stockport group, is looking for a Volunteer Fishing Tutor to help people with disabilities enjoy the calm, fun, and connection that fishing brings! Volunteers should be comfortable working with people with disabilities (or keen to learn) and will need to follow our safety guidelines, risk assessments, and policies, while maintaining respect and confidentiality. The role is subject to a DBS check, and don’t worry — full training is provided to make sure you feel confident and supported. In return, you’ll enjoy time outdoors, make new friends, be part of a supportive community, and get hands-on experience in mental health and peer support — all while doing something you love!

Role

o be a great Volunteer Fishing Tutor with Reel Connections, you’ll need a passion for fishing and a willingness to share your skills in a patient and encouraging way. You should be friendly, approachable, and supportive, with an interest in mental health and peer connection. Good communication skills are important, as is the ability to work safely and follow risk assessments, policies, and safeguarding guidelines. You’ll need to be reliable and flexible, able to maintain appropriate boundaries, respect confidentiality, and create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all participants. Being a driver is desirable, but not essential.
