Volunteering with Marie Curie is a chance to make a real difference in your local community by helping to support people living with terminal illness and their families. From fundraising in stores to supporting events, our volunteers play a vital role in raising the funds needed to provide expert care and support.
Whether you can give a few hours occasionally or get more involved, volunteering is flexible, rewarding, and a great way to meet new people, build confidence, and support an important cause. Full training and ongoing support are always provided, so no previous experience is needed.

Role

As a Collection Host, you’ll play a key role in helping our local fundraising collections run smoothly. You’ll act as the main point of contact during collection days, supporting volunteers and helping create a positive and organised experience.

Confirming attendance with volunteers ahead of their shifts
Meeting and supporting collectors on the day, especially those new to the role
Dropping off and/or collecting equipment (collection tins, buckets, card machines, etc.)
Being available to answer questions and provide guidance during the collection
(Optional) Banking the funds raised – a simple process with full training provided
Building relationships with store Community Champions and supporting in-store fundraising opportunities

Skills & Qualities:

Friendly, approachable and reliable
Good organisational and communication skills
Confident supporting and guiding others
Able to take initiative and problem-solve when needed
Comfortable handling basic admin tasks (with support and training)
