Chelwood Foodbank Digital Champions

REF: 69318ed6b481a

Can you help people get online, and feel more confident to use computers or phones? Tech genius NOT required! Your everyday skills searching the web or using your device is enough.

Chelwood Foodbank supports with more than just food parcels, the “plus” in their name comes from referrals, support with finances, and donating essentials like cooking equipment or bedding where needed. That’s why Chelwood Foodbank are teaming up with Starting Point to find friendly volunteers who can support foodbank customers with tasks like feeling more confident to use a smart phone, checking emails, filling in online forms, or looking up information online.
They may want support to prove eligibility to use the foodbank, to check a UC diary or research support available to them. Chelwood foodbank also offer Databank sim cards, and Starting Point can give full training to volunteers interested to help them issue these to families in need.

Role

You’ll get full training for this role, as well as support from Chelwood foodbank staff or regular volunteers when you help out, as well as help from Starting Point staff.
You’ll be part of a group of volunteers, so you’ll never be on your own when you volunteer We have a rota for these roles, so you don’t need to volunteer every week (unless you want to!)

In this role, you will be supporting people having a tough time. You may hear some upsetting stories, or some swearing as you support people. We will make sure all our volunteers are safe, and it’s a great role if you want to know you a making a difference to local people who need it most. This is one of our most rewarding roles, where you can see you have helped.

Sessions take place:
- Brinnington Lighthouse – Fortnightly Wednesdays 12-2pm
- Chelwood Baptist Church , Cheadle Hulme – Fortnightly Thursdays 11am – 2pm
