At Stockport Connect Hub, we support people living with mental illness accessing secondary services in doing meaningful activities, reduce social isolation and support people with their wellbeing. At the Hub, we will have a cafe opening in the New Year that will serve nutritious and affordable food to members, volunteers and staff.
Volunteers you will be assisting the cook with taking orders, serving food, making drinks and snacks as well as assisting with cooking.

Role

Volunteers will be assisting the cook with taking orders, serving food, making drinks and snacks as well as assisting with cooking. Therefore you will need basic skills with food preparation, communication skills, be able to volunteer as part of a team and to be comfortable talking to people.
Some knowledge of food hygiene is useful but we are going to ask you to do e-learning on this before starting your volunteering.

We do hire out a football pitch so it is best you come ready to play football. As part of your application, we would do a DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check as you would be volunteering with adults at risk who are living with enduring mental illness. We do not charge for the DBS and a positive disclosure does not necessarily mean you are unable to volunteer.

In Stockport, we have 3 services supporting people living with mental illness. Castlewood Court - is a supported living service where staff work with people to build their skills, confidence with the aim for people to move on to live independently Stockport Open Door - supports people over the age of 18 who need emotional support and are in crisis with their mental health Stockport Connect Hub - supports people who currently or have accessed secondary mental health services to get involved in therapeutic group activities and one to one support.
