Plastic Shed is a community benefit society based in the heart of Stockport that finds new and creative ways to reuse plastic waste locally. Every piece of plastic we reuse has been collected, donated and sorted by thousands of people across Stockport, donating over 1.5 million lids so far! We reuse this plastic is a variation of ways, through educational and creative workshops, a growing product range, and what we are most know for - large scale recycled plastic bottle lid murals! In 2024 we created the UK's largest recycled plastic bottle lid mural, and since then we have created them across the UK. With growing donators and an incredible increase in plastic bottle lid donations we need to reach out to our community for help, want to join the Plastic Shed community and help keep plastic waste out of our environment?

Role

With an incredible increase in donations, it means we have been lucky enough to need to expand our donation stations across Stockport and into Manchester. More donators = more donations = more collections needed! So far our tiny team of 2 has been keeping on top of all our donation stations, but with an increase to over 50 donation points across Stockport and Manchester, we simply can't keep on top of them - which is a really great problem to have really! It's time to call out to our community and grow our team of volunteers. We are looking for individuals to look after their local donation point - keep an eye on it and when it's full, empty it, and bring it over to us here in Stockport. On average bins have needed emptying once a month, some less, some more. It is simply a case of popping to the point, emptying it into a bin bag (which will be supplied), and when you're able, bringing that bag of lids to us in Stockport Merseyway Shopping centre! We have them in every corner of Stockport, so if you've got a few hours to give a month and want to make an impact to our environment and to a small business in Stockport, join the crew and volunteer!
