Monday Art Group is a friendly, established group that provides a relaxed and supportive space for people to be creative, socialise and build confidence through art. We also warmly welcome newcomers to the group. We have a dedicated art room and art supplies available.
Date, Time and Venue - Every Monday at Stockport Connect Hub, Progress House, 35A Adswood Lane East, Stockport, SK2 6RE, the Art group starts at 11:30am until 2:30pm

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supporting and encouraging people with their own creative projects
• Offering ideas and inspiration to those unsure where to start
• Helping create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere
• Optionally planning simple art activities or themed projects (if desired)
Mental Health Awareness - Be sensitive to participants’ emotional and psychological needs. Promote peer support and offer a non-judgmental, stigma-free environment. Recognize signs of distress and communicate concerns to staff members.

We are looking for someone who is:
• Friendly, patient and approachable

• Aged 18 +
• Interested in art and creativity
• Comfortable supporting a range of abilities and confidence levels
• Reliable and able to help create a positive group environment

Role

To Facilitator the art group in an inclusive, safe, and engaging manner for adults experiencing mental ill health, with the aim of promoting social connection and emotional wellbeing.

Foster a friendly, respectful atmosphere with positive communication. Some group members are happy working independently, while others benefit from gentle guidance, encouragement and creative suggestions from someone leading the session. The group is part of our mental wellbeing Hub supporting adults experiencing mental health challenges, so an understanding, compassionate and non-judgemental approach is important.

Organisation description:

Supporting adults (18+) in Stockport that are currently accessing or have previously accessed secondary mental health services. Our service offers a safe and welcoming space for members of the hub to access a range of information, advice, and emotional and practical support to improve mental wellbeing. Open Monday to Friday, between 11:00am – 4:00pm We offer a range of therapeutic groups and activities, with additional groups and events taking place in the evenings. The Hub Wellbeing and Engagement Team provides 1-1 appointments between 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday. We welcome self-referrals and referrals from professionals - it’s quick, easy and we’re here to help. 1-1 staff support and group support, where needed, to help people to talk, listen and feel connected and to enable people to take ownership of their mental wellbeing A safe, accessible space for people to connect with like-minded people who offer peer-to-peer support Experienced staff who can help connect people to local specialist support services Guidance to navigate housing, employment, debt, emotional support, and physical health services Opportunities to keep learning with a range of courses Volunteering opportunities to give support to the community by providing people with new skills, which also increases chances of employment Our service offers person-centered mental health support over a 12-week period, with a focus on helping you explore your goals, build resilience, and find strategies that work for you. You’ll have access to 1:1 sessions, wellbeing planning and group activities.
