REF: The Light Brigade Project

The Light Brigade is a group of local residents who are planning a family focused Festival of Light on Sunday 20 December in and around Marple Memorial Park.

The aim is to bring people together, raise awareness of mental wellbeing and highlight the organisations and individuals who are there to help when life feels overwhelming.

The organisers are looking for support from businesses, organisations, community groups and individuals.

Role

This project is about more than lighting a landmark. It is about bringing people together, raising awareness of mental wellbeing, reducing stigma, and highlighting the organisations and individuals who are there to help when life feels overwhelming.

By creating a welcoming and uplifting community event, we hope to send a clear message that nobody need face their struggles alone.

Volunteers will need to be able to work in all weathers and be available for the event Day Sunday 2oth December.

Stockport Council District Centres

Organisation description:

Hi, I am a District Centre Manager for Stockport Council and my role is to support local businesses, make improvements to the appearance of the centres and to encourage and support events to increase footfall and help bring communities together in the District Centres. I manage 4 Centres but need some help in Edgeley and Hazel Grove. I'm trying to build a volunteer base to support events like Worker Bee Markets, Xmas Light Switch on, the occasional letter drop, marshalling events, setting up gazebos and doing some tidy up work on existing planters and occasional litter picks-you don't have to do all of this but any help gratefully received.
