Garden Maintenance

REF: 6a33e8fa9d383

We’re looking for someone green fingered to help us maintain our gardens. Whilst they can be a lovely space, we do not have the resources to maintain them regularly and as such are becoming wilder! We are hoping to get some regular help to mow the lawn, cut in the edges of the grass, remove weeds and even plant some new flowers.

We want to be able to host carers events outside in the future and need it to look as lovely as possible! We have lots of equipment here to use, though volunteers are also welcome to bring their own if desired.

Role

What you’ll be doing:
• Mowing the lawns
• Weeding, planting and maintaining flower beds, including cutting in edges
• Hedge trimming
• Sweeping
• Clearing any overgrown or dying plants

This role would suit you if you:
• Have a basic knowledge of plants
• Enjoy gardening
• Want to volunteer outside
• Want to make a difference to the carers we support across Stockport

What you’ll gain:
• A rewarding opportunity to support carers across Stockport
• Experience in community engagement, and representing a charity
• Training and ongoing support from the Signpost team
• The chance to make a real difference while building skills and confidence

Signpost for Carers

Organisation description:

Signpost Stockport for Carers is an independent local charity who have been supporting carers for more than 30 years. If you’re a Stockport carer or caring for somebody living in Stockport, we’re here for you. A carer is anyone providing help to a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage without them because of frailty, illness, addiction or disability. Carers often don’t recognise themselves as ‘carers’; they just think of themselves as helping out somebody they care about. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for carers in Stockport from 6 years old to 96 years old and everyone in-between!
