Dementia Disco Digital Champion

REF: 6a269e858bbac

Would you like to help Dementia Disco participants to get online or feel more confident using a computer? Can you support people to complete the Dementia Disco sign up process, so they can book on - and boogie! Full training provided.

Tech genius not needed - Your everyday knowledge using a smart phone, browsing websites or using a computer at work is enough.

You can sign up to help every session, or just once a month as it suits you. Sessions are usually 5-7 pm and some are weekend dates - so may suit working volunteers.

Would you like a friendly, informal volunteer role where you meet new people? This role is for you!

Role

This flexible volunteer role is one where you'll be part of a team of Dementia Disco's volunteer team, with support from other volunteers and staff when you volunteer.
Starting Point and Dementia Disco are teaming up to support people who attend disco sessions. In this volunteer role you will be supporting disco participants if they struggle to log in and book onto disco sessions. You may also be asked to support with other digital issues, such as a frustrating phone or using the NHS app. If you have ever helped a friend or family member us a computer or a phone, you have great experience for this role! You'll want to get to know people in this role, as it takes time to build trust before people are happy to ask for help with Digital, so we will ask you to pitch in with other volunteer tasks, start conversations with new people, and get to know people - so you won't just be doing digital.

Dementia Disco organise free-to-attend, regular discos for people with dementia, their carers, family and friends. Attendees go along for a night out full of life, laughter and music.

Starting Point support people in Stockport to get online, to feel more confident using devices, and to do tasks they need to do in this digital world - like sign up to a Dementia Disco session! You will get support 'in the background' from Starting Point, as we have a whole team of Digital Champion volunteers. We can bring the tech training and support when you need it, as well as regular socials and top up training.

We will ask you to attend one week day training session before you start volunteering as a Digital Champion.
Get in touch with Clara at Starting Point if you have any questions - clara@startpoint.org.uk
