Women's Group Assistant

About Stockport Connect Hub
We support people over 18 who are accessing or have accessed secondary mental health services. It is a safe and welcoming space where people can get advice and support. This includes therapeutic activities encouraging people to be active, connect and to improve their wellbeing. The Women’s Group is a safe space for women living with mental illness.

Why should you volunteer?
This is a good opportunity to help others, connect and learn from others.

What will you be doing?
• To volunteer on a Wednesday supporting ideas, inspiration and gentle guidance for those unsure where to begin.
• Help create a warm, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Promote peer support and a non-judgmental, stigma free environment.
• To support and encourage people to do their own projects.
• There is the option to plan simple wellbeing activities.

Role

This opportunity is for a female volunteer who is over 18 to help create a safe space for women living with mental illness, some who have had traumatic experiences.
For this role you need to have an interest in creativity, wellbeing and community activities. You need to have an understanding of mental illness, empathy and be a people person. You would be supporting people with a range of abilities and confidence levels.
As you would be volunteering with adults more at risk living with mental illness, we would do an enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check as part of your application. It involves filling in an online form and bringing in some ID to be verified. There is no charge for the DBS. A positive disclosure doesn't necessarily disqualify you from volunteering as it would be looked at on a case by case basis.

When:

Every Wednesday from 11.30 am - 2.30pm

Where:

SK2

Other:

You will be playing football when volunteering, so you would need to wear active clothing when volunteering.

30 October 2026
