About Stockport Connect Hub
We support people over 18 who are accessing or have accessed secondary
mental health services. It is a safe and welcoming space where people can
get advice and support. This includes therapeutic activities encouraging
people to be active, connect and to improve their wellbeing. There is a
dedicated art space with supplies where people do creative activities.

Why should you volunteer?
This is a good opportunity to help others, be creative and develop your skills
further.

What will you be doing?
• To volunteer on a Monday supporting people to do art activities. Some
people like to do their own project but other like to be given inspiration
and ideas.
• Help create a warm, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere
• To support and encourage people to do their own projects.
• There is the option to plan simple art projects or themed ideas.

Role

For this role, you need an interest in art and being creative. You would need
to be comfortable supporting people with a range of abilities and confidence
levels. You need to have an understanding of mental illness, empathy and
be a people person. It is important that you promote a non-judgemental and
stigma free environment.
We would do an enhanced DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) check as part of your volunteer application as you would be volunteering with adults who are more at risk. It involves filling in an online form and bringing in some ID to be verified. There is no charge for the DBS and a positive disclosure does not necessarily disqualify you from volunteering with us.
