Stockport Volunteer Awards 2026

Stockport Rocks! is about rewarding and celebrating our invaluable volunteer workforce. Without them, our, over 1,700, local charities, community groups and social enterprises in Stockport would not be able to run the vital community services that enable local residents to Live Well.

So we think they more than deserve a knees up celebration!

Stockport Rocks! is delivered in partnership with Stockport Council, Stockport County Community Trust, Marketing Stockport, Kao Data and a whole host of incredible sponsors to deliver a worthy celebration event for 400 guests at Edgeley Park. Find full list below.

Armed Forced Volunteer Award

WINNER

Moz Perkins

“Moz is a selfless, caring, and dedicated person who volunteers with several armed forces groups. He is a founder and secretary of SAFCO, Chair of Hazel Grove Royal Naval Association, part of the admin team running Stockport AF breakfast club, and a member of the team leading the AF community Hub in Hazel Grove. He gives a huge amount of his time and energy, skills, and knowledge to the community he loves.”

Peter McHale for his dedication at attending veterans funerals and representing the Royal British Legion

Hannah Hodgson- The Garden House Marple

“If we all thought about Nature the way my mum does, we would all be happier and have a better environment. My mum helps the young volunteers understand that you don’t have to use big words or be an expert to know you are doing a good thing and enjoying it, and that your actions make a difference to the world. She makes people happier about themselves and changes how they think about nature. I am very proud of her, and she deserves an award.”

Shiela Robins for their voluntary service at Stockport’s oldest cemetery ‘Willow Grove’

Tom McGowan for being the driving force behind the success and sustainability of the Banter & Brews Members Garden.

Brenda Marsh, Walthew House

“Brenda has shown dedication and commitment to fundraising for Walthew House over many years. She, along with her husband run the Brick’a’Brac stall every week, come rain or shine. When it shines, they even take the stalls outside. They have been amazing bucket collectors at seasonal events and at local Stockport events. They use their initiative to come up with ideas on how to raise funds. They are great at encouraging others to share and are always promoting the work we do. They have helped to raise thousands of pounds over the years. “

“Katie is a fantastic member of our local community, she is always on hand to offer help support and advice to residents, Katie also raises a lot of funds herself to organise events that really do bring the community together, from the older generation right down to the younger generation. Katie is a very well known young lady by all of our local community, and is very well liked, she really is at the heart and sole of everything the residents association organise, and she does it with such passion and enthusiasm.”

Mary Dutton, From Brinnington Community

“Mary Dutton, has given over 50 yrs of her life volunteering and continues to do so, in and around Brinnington, her group is BLOGS, which stands for Brinnington local organised group society. Mary continues to volunteer tirelessly within Brinnington. Mary Dutton MBE, truly is the “ star “ of Stockport esp. in and around Brinnington.”

“Shereen and Noha are outstanding Parent Group Leaders whose dedication, cultural insight, and commitment to inclusivity have had a transformative impact on families across Stockport. Since completing their EPEC Parent Group Leader training, they have volunteered with exceptional warmth, professionalism, and heart. Shereen and Noha are deeply valued members of our EPEC team. Their passion, dedication, and commitment to creating accessible, inclusive support is strengthening parenting opportunities across Stockport.”

They haven’t just given students a way to get around; they have provided a reliable pathway into school and a renewed opportunity to learn. Students who previously struggled to attend are now consistently present in the classroom. This initiative has fostered independence, improved physical wellbeing, and directly supported academic engagement. Reddish Men in Sheds perfectly embodies the spirit of community service.”
