Organisation description:
Our organisation is called Move against Cancer and was set up in 2016 by International athlete Gemma Hillier Moses to support youngsters and anyone impacted by Cancer to get more physically active. Gemma had cancer herself in her 20s and found there was no support or guidance to help her stay physically active and wanted to ensure that others were not faced with the same dilemma. We currently have three main branches to the Charity's work: An FREE 8 week online exercise program with Cancer Rehabilitation exercise specialists for youngsters aged 13-30 years who are living with or recuperating from cancer. Youngsters can be referred from Health professionals or refer themselves via our website. A 5k Your Way Move against Cancer program that is nationwide to encourage individuals impacted by Cancer to walk, jog, run or cheer together in local parks and outdoor spaces, once a month to encourage individuals to move more. These link with ParkRun events on the last Saturday of each month. There are over 100 dotted across the country and more being created regularly. The provision of a library of empowering and informative resources, including workshops, videos, podcasts and online Move your way exercise sessions to encourage individuals to become more active and as a result improve their quality of life. These are free and accessible to all regardless of whether they access any of our other services. https://www.moveagainstcancer.org/# Our volunteers get involved in the delivery of our 5K Your Way Programme and you’ll be helping to set up and run the group.
