Independent Visitor

REF: 6a4cf71ad2cd2

An Independent Visitor (also known as an IV) is a responsible adult volunteer who befriends and
supports a child or young person looked after by a local authority and has little or no contact with
their parents.

By becoming an IV, you can make a real difference. They spend a few hours each month with a child, building a consistent, trusted relationship through spending time together and enjoying fun activities.
This rewarding role offers the chance to provide support, encouragement, and stability to a young person who needs it most.

At Coram, we are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We believe a diverse volunteer community enables us to better support the children and families we work with. We warmly welcome applications from all sections of the community we serve, including people from global majority ethnic backgrounds, those who identify as LGBTQ+, disabled people, individuals with lived experience of care, those who are neurodivergent, and others who are currently underrepresented. We would also particularly welcome male volunteers, as positive male role models can be especially valuable for teenage boys in care.

Registered Charity No. 312278.
