Dementia Friend – Marple

REF: 662a4c1b46bc5

Working with the volunteers at Dementia Friendly Marple, you’ll be helping to support the carers of those suffering from dementia, promoting Signpost’s services and helping carers get the support they need. The friendly group at Marple meet for drinks, a meal and can participate in a range of activities such as dance classes. It’s a chance for attendees to meet in a welcoming environment with those in similar positions so they can talk and share their experiences. Signpost has a range of services to support carers and your role will be to identify which of these would be beneficial to members of the group and then share their information with Signpost staff. You’ll be working closely with the Dementia Carer Support Officer to do this. This is a hand-on, rewarding role helping the local community.

Signpost for Carers

Organisation description:

Signpost Stockport for Carers is an independent local charity who have been supporting carers for more than 30 years. If you’re a Stockport carer or caring for somebody living in Stockport, we’re here for you. A carer is anyone providing help to a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage without them because of frailty, illness, addiction or disability. Carers often don’t recognise themselves as ‘carers’; they just think of themselves as helping out somebody they care about. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for carers in Stockport from 6 years old to 96 years old and everyone in-between!
