A Befriender visits a lonely, house-bound older person in their own home on a regular basis - usually once a week. During their visit, a Befriender will normally make a cup of tea, have a chat and develop areas of shared interests to talk about to encourage engagement. The aim of this role is to simply provide company to alleviate isolation and loneliness. There are small aspects of admin with this role which include keeping a brief record of visits and generally keeping an eye out so as to provide information and signpost to other services if needed.

This is a very flexible role with no set hours so can suit most individuals. We reimburse travel expenses to and from your Befriending visits.
