Repairer (small electricals) for Heatons Repair Cafe

REF: 67aa36478bef5

The Heatons Repair Cafe meets once a month for two hours a session. We encourage members of the community to bring along household items, garden tools, clothes, bikes , jewellery , to be repaired rather than go to landfill. We have volunteers who sew, repair bikes and all the other items mentioned plus those who help with tea and coffee and meet and greet. There is a high demand for small electrical repairs and although we have trained PAT testers and a few who can do electrical repairs we need more support in this area.

Role

Help out once amonth and carry out repairs once the item is deemed safe following the PAT test.

The Friends of Darley Street

Organisation description:

We are a small group of volunteers looking after Darley Street Community Garden in the heart of the Heaton Norris conservation area. The Friends of Darley Street was formed in 2021 to work on a piece of derelict land that had been neglected and unloved since the houses on the street were demolished in the early 1980's. There is a well used footpath running through it so the local community were very supportive of the work undertaken. There is now a colourful garden in place much enjoyed by the community and visitors alike. In January 2024, the Friends group became fully affiliated with Sustainable Living in the Heatons, a very well established community group in the Heatons. Our gardening sessions are held on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 10:30 until 12:30. Please note that there are no gardening activities in either December or January.
