Join a cohort of mentors supporting driven students aged 14-18 with social, emotional or learning needs. The sessions will take place on a timetabled basis for 1 hour, once a month, between November 2024 and June 2025, excluding school holidays. The first session of the programme will be a launch session where you'll receive an induction from the school. All sessions will face-to-face, 1:1, supervised, and based at the school. Do you have what it takes to be a mentor? You don't need to have previous mentoring experience, just: - 5 years work experience (or 2 post-graduate) - A listening ear - A willingness to understand the issues young people in Manchester are facing in the current climate - Capacity to volunteer an hour a month for up to a year Sign up here: https://onemillionmentors.org.uk/become-a-mentor/ Complete your profile and online training on our platform, and provide us with details of 2 references. We'll then bookmark you for this programme and confirm the timetable with you when we have it set. If the dates don't work for you, we've got plenty of other opportunities with timetabled programmes and Over-18s with whom you can arrange when, where and how you meet. If you don't already have one, the Youth Partner will organise and fund your DBS check. When:

Organisation description:
One Million Mentors is a unique, community-based mentoring programme, bringing together local young people and volunteer mentors who give an hour a month for up to a year. We support young people who have high potential but low social capital and our aim is to increase their career chances by providing them with a full trained mentor who will encourage and guide them, assisting them to explore career options, build soft skills and provide insight into the world of work. Since 2018, we've successfully partnered with over 40 schools, colleges, universities and youth organisations across Greater Manchester, creating over 1,500 mentoring relationships. We're also partnered with numerous other local employers. We recruit our mentors from a variety of professional backgrounds and provide them with specialist training and ongoing support. We then match them with a young person aged 14-25 based on the mentee's goals and aspirations.
